Amazing painting~~
Go Deleter!!
The background also works very well. It's not so busy and focused that it takes away from the figure in the foreground... and the hidden (or maybe they're not so hidden) butterflies are an added little surprise. Well done.
The details kind of grew on their own. I just kept adding and adding.
Thank you so much!
The trees look good. Going all black saves your sanity in the long run.
The face and eye to the right are interesting to behold. Various experiments on the page suggest you littered certain areas with various effects. Perhaps you could tell us about those experiments, in light of the results they offer (which, by the way, happen to be pretty good).
It seems like the hair casts a shadow over the face, based on the light source from the left. The right sections of the face ought to have more shading, since it looks like back-lighting was used. I may be wrong. If someone did a black and white, they'd omit a chunk of the right side of that face into black. That's what I think, at least.
Now I said Nomura, since the first thing that came to my mind was "Ethnically-consistent Squall Leonheart," provided that Japanese artists might draw specifically to their ethnicity (I doubt that's the case, of course). It certainly looks like a different version of Squall, but the skull threw me back and made me erase the idea from my head, squarely on the basis that Squall likes lions. Don't kill me--that's my initial sentiment.
Other than that, it's okay, I suppose. Whatever your experiments were, they came out good in the end. Wonder if you'll try them again sometime?
The shading on the face gave me so much trouble! I had no photo reference, so I just winged it.
It wasn't supposed to look anything like Squall, actually.
Squall had been a pain in the ass, I'll admit, but I get around things like that. And I find VIII more satisfying than VII more often than not (except for Squall--nearly ruined that).
His expression is pretty mysterious, I can't figure out whether he is angry or indifferent.
For some reason, I keep imagining that thing at the center/left section of the picture to be a dragon's head pointing down.
Anyone else see that?
And finally, great work on the hair,
Overall,
Grade A+++++++++++++ work as usual.
