This photo naming system is getting confusing with Roman Numerals...maybe I should stop being lazy and put in actual titles.
This costume took a couple months to make. The purple snakeskin spandex is actually from 3 awful clubbing dresses that I found online, because purple snakeskin spandex apparently does not exist in yardage form (I looked everywhere!). The straps and detailing on the coat and shoes are made out of white pleather and purple suede. The teddy, thigh inserts, and cuff are all made from the same mauve lace, and the teddy has a built in bra. The dicky, gloves, and choker were sewn from a burgundy cotton.
The pauldron was sculpted out of Klean Klay Firm, molded in silicone, and cast in resin, and her gauntlet is made of sintra. The finger tip armor is actually thimbles, apoxie sculpt, and zip ties. The ankle armor was made out of craft foam for minimal weight. Lastly the sword hilt was sculpted and cast in resin, the handle is apoxie sculpt and MDF, and the blade is sintra. I currently only have the untransformed sword, but I'll be making the whip version soon.
Not only is it a fantastic costume but it's very interesting to get the info on what's gone in to making it. I think it's probably for the best that purple snakeskin spandex isn't generally available by the yard. Except for cosplaying Ivy there's no excuse for it! lol Don't rest your sword on your shoulder blade edge down (my pet peeve with sword poses: not entirely dissimilar to scratching your forehead with the barrel of a loaded gun). It's a sword, after all, not a piece of plastic, right?
